About Cameron Corgard

Originally hailing from Minnesota, Cameron brings a diverse background and a deep understanding of varied cultures and regions, from the tranquil agricultural fields of the Dakota\'s and Arkansas to the rugged snow-capped Rockies in Colorado. To complement his rural endeavors, his academic journey commenced in the Pacific Northwest before a cross-country move to the Northeastern gateway of opportunities that is New York City. Before embarking on higher education, his professional career garnered: mastering high-elevation rescue operations in austere conditions, providing emergency medical services, and leading demanding wilderness expeditions. Cameron’s versatility spans various other industries including construction and demolition, watercraft operation, heavy machinery handling, and multi-million dollar commodities transfers. Fueled by a profound passion for nature and a relentless curiosity about human vulnerability and conflict, Cameron’s undergraduate studies focused on Sociology and Climate Change Science and Adaptation. Throughout his bachelors he primarily focused on criminology, deviance and delinquency. This passion brought him to pursue a master\'s in Climate and Society with emphasis on International Security Policy at Columbia University’s newest graduate school: The Columbia Climate School. Graduate studies have enriched his expertise in climate change physics and thermodynamics, impact mitigation, adaptation, security, intelligence, and international law and policy. During his current and final masters semester, he is completing extracurricular studies at Columbia’s School of International and Public Affairs by bringing a climate lens to the policy and security world with coursework in: Special Operations and National Security, Strategic Intelligence and Political Decision Making, U.S. Foreign Policy, and United Nations and International Peacekeeping. Alongside this he is working with the Cornell ILR’s Climate Job’s Institute researching labor accountability in the renewable energy sector to promote a just transition. Aspiring to contribute his diverse skill set and knowledge to further intelligence and security efforts, he welcomes opportunities to engage with scientists, officers, and personnel from all agencies as he transitions from academia to the professional world. If you share an interest in climate security, risk, resilience, mobility, environmental conflict, red teams, wargaming, intelligence operations, irregular warfare, or crisis management, Cameron would love to connect!
