ABOUT CALVIN LAW

I’m honoured to serve as Vice President, Education @ Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, a truly SPECIAL place where patients, healthcare providers and learners all come together. when it matters most. Our team will be unwavering in our goal to help develop the very best healthcare professionals, driven with purpose and compassion, who will meet patients at their place of need today and tomorrow.I am a passionate educator, having been recognized with teaching awards at the undergraduate, graduate and post-graduate levels, including the Canadian Association of General Surgery Resident Teaching Award, the Bruce Tovee Surgical Teaching Award and the Robert Mustard Mentorship Award. I have also served a term as an Examiner for the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.I am grateful for the foundation of healthcare leadership experience from Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre including Chief, Odette Cancer Centre; Head, Surgical Oncology; Chair, Gastrointestinal Oncology Site Group and co-founder for the Susan Leslie Clinic for Neuroendocrine Tumours. I am also grateful to my colleagues at Ontario Health/Cancer Care Ontario, learning so much from them while serving as Regional Vice President, Toronto Central North.My academic productivity has allowed me to achieve the rank of Full Professor at the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto. I also serve as an Affiliate Scientist at Sunnybrook Research Institute and have served as an Adjunct Scientist for the Institute of Clinical Evaluative Sciences. I was the inaugural holder of the Sherif and Mary Lou Hanna Research Chair in Surgical Oncology at the University of Toronto. I have completed a term as a Career Scientist for the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care of Ontario. My surgical innovations include the first demonstration of hands free digital imaging control in the operating room to being a co-patent holder of MOLLI technology that was recognized as by Time Magazine as one of the \"Best Inventions of 2022\". My training includes an MD from the University of Toronto, FRCSC from McMaster University, AHLP from the Rotman School of Management, an MPH from Harvard University and most importantly, mentorship under the late great Dr. Sherif Hanna.
