ABOUT CALLUM JAMES B.

Callum is a charted engineer currently working within the temporary works field of construction. After being within the industry for around 6 years’, he has gained experience in a variety of projects such as temporary footbridges, heavy duty needle and propping and complex access scaffolding. His role as an engineer has further developed to project management, business development, people strategy and commercial responsibilities. During his masters in marine renewable energy, he spent time testing a scaled wave energy converter in the coastal laboratories ocean basin at Plymouth University. In his thesis, a constrained NewWave was embedded into a unidirectional regular wave at predetermined phase locations to simulate the extreme conditions required, specifically testing the loads placed upon the morning line. Skills he learnt during his time at Plymouth included an understanding of international maritime law, MatLab, linear wave theory, electronic engineering, turbine design and field work studies on salinity and currents.Callum, has also set up and chair\'s the Plymouth University Civil Engineering Mentoring Scheme. He collaboratively brought together alumni engineers of Plymouth University and pairs them with current students to help aid their leaning at university and provide guidance to further engineering qualifications. After studying for both his degrees at the university, he felt it was a great way to give something back.
