About Caleb M. Trujillo
I teach data visualization! We live in a vast sea of information and need the right technology to navigate and be responsible leaders to steer. My courses help students build representations that are both informative and aesthetically pleasing forms of communication. From sketches to dashboards, we bring spreadsheets to life. I use community-based projects, Tableau, tidyverse, and data feminism to support the development of the next generation of visionaries! I love working with students at the University of Washington Bothell since many students are the first in their families to go to college. As a child, I thrived outdoors and gained an interest in biology early. During my time at CU-Boulder, I studied how cells and molecules work in living things and, then at Purdue, studied how to bring this knowledge to students using biology education research. As a post-doc, I joined Michigan State University where I studied how students learn about models and systems in science.I love working with students at the University of Washington Bothell since many students are the first in their families to go to college. I serve the community to support research, our mathematical thinking & visualization major, and developing programs for data analytics. I have extensive experience with science education research, network analysis, and data analysis, so I am happy to help consult about statistics, data science, and visualization when I\'m not teaching. When I\'m not working I enjoy working, I love to movies, draw, and read comics and The New Yorker. I play pinball, ice hockey, and bike polo.
