About Caitlyn King
I recently graduated from Dartmouth College with a B.A. in Art History with High Honors and cum laude. My main research interests are in Asian Art, Southeast Asian Art, and Southeast Asian textiles. During my time at Dartmouth, I was involved with the Hood Museum as a Programming Intern, and I curated my Space for Dialogue exhibit, Connecting Threads and Woven Stories, on Southeast Asian textiles. In addition to my museum experience, I have worked at Christie’s Auction House as a Summer Intern for the South Asian Modern + Contemporary Art & Indian, Himalayan, and Southeast Asian Art departments. In my sophomore year, I was awarded a Mellon Mays Undergraduate Associate Fellowship, which allowed me to conduct field research for my senior thesis on Laotian textiles. I received the Jonathan B. Rintels 1927 Prize, awarded to the best honors thesis in the Arts and Humanities of the graduating class, for my senior thesis \"Uncovering the Legacy of the Secret War on Laotian Textiles.\" I am currently spending this upcoming year in Laos as a Fulbright Open Study/Research Award grantee. I am conducting research on Laotian textiles, learning about different dyeing and weaving techniques, iconography incorporated into the textiles, and the stories of the women who create them. I am also working at the National Museum of Laos as Assistant to Director of the Museum, carrying out various projects. I am interested in all sectors of the art world, from curatorial work, research, educational programming, to art business.
