About Caitlin Forinash
I am passionate about renewable energy and have over 10 years of experience working and researching in the wind energy and micro-hydroelectric industries. I am currently a Product Integrity Specialist for the North American Product Integrity team at Vestas American Wind Technology. I previously was the Lead Engineer for InPipe Energy. InPipe Energy is a renewable energy and smart water technology company focused on the economics of generating low cost, clean electricity from the flow of water in gravity fed water pipelines to improve resiliency in cities and communities around the world.Previously I was a Mechanical Engineer for Vestas American Wind Technology. My role was to support the operation and maintenance of wind turbines across the US and Canada. I received my Master\'s degree in Mechanical Engineering with a focus in design and renewable energies at Oregon State University in June 2016. I was a member of NNMREC and centered my research on optimization of floating offshore wind turbine arrays. I also have prior industry experience working for Hewlett-Packard and Impinj.I graduated Magna Cum Laude with my Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Portland in May 2014. While there I completed a senior design project in which myself and two other students designed, built, and implemented a combined flat plate and evacuated tube solar thermal water heater with the intent of producing green energy using a Rankine Power Cycle.Outside of engineering, I have worked as a summer camp counselor for CYO Summer Camps in the Greater Seattle Area. Thanks to summer camping, I have built leadership and teamwork skills that I could not have built anywhere else.I am looking to gain industry and academic contacts, especially those who have expertise in renewable and sustainable energy.
