I’m Caitie Barber-Owona, a Principal Technical Sourcer with a specialty in hiring senior engineering talent that drives business-wide impact.As a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual contributor, I’ve spent the last few years immersed in big tech, sourcing and hiring the top 2 percent of Software Engineers across Uber. My focus includes Senior Staff Engineers, Principal Engineers, and Senior Engineering Managers across mobile, machine learning, and backend engineers for both product and platform orgs. These are the roles that shape systems, scale innovation, and set technical direction across the company.What sets my work apart is the level of intentionality I bring to every search. I love the strategy behind executive-level hiring—the upstream calibration, the market-mapping, the stakeholder alignment, and the messaging that earns trust with highly selective candidates. My passion lies in partnering with the business to craft innovative talent acquisition strategies while delivering a white glove experience to every candidate I engage. I thrive in environments that require urgency, precision, and strategy, where I can design impactful sourcing frameworks, lead inclusive hiring, and guide executive searches to successful hires with clarity and consistency.At Uber, I’ve been trusted to lead some of the company’s most critical hiring efforts. In 2024, I was responsible for 26 percent of all L6 engineering starts in North America and drove a 129 percent year-over-year increase in L6 offers. But the deeper story lies in how I got there:I led a global optimization of Engineering Manager hiring, streamlining strategy and consistency across regionsI partnered with the Women of Delivery ERG to build inclusive sourcing strategies, contributing to increased hiring of women engineers and standout results at Grace HopperI was named one of the Top 25 Sourcers in North America for sustained high performance and pipeline impactI created and delivered inclusive sourcing trainings for hiring managers across Uber Eats, focused on expanding access and outreachI co-led the Inclsuive Recruiting and Sourcing Champions program, improving collaboration and influencing decisions across the recruiting functionI’m known for bringing precision to ambiguity, delivering with consistency, and showing up with energy.
