Leading a transformative initiative launched at ASU focused on character formation which is grant-funded by the Kern Family Foundation. Leading a $13M grant funded systems change initiative – Working collaboratively and strategically with faculty, staff, students, and community partners to conceive a theory of change, create a framework for character formation and decision-making, redesign organizational systems, and cultivate authentic relationships and a culture of care, belonging, and purpose, while being an ethical steward of grant funds. Turned a 6-month planning grant into a 5-year initiative with anticipation of extended funding for an additional 5 years to scale the work across a large public university. Spent two years co-creating a framework (from language to approach) and “officially” launched Principled Innovation in 2019.Moved on to integrate this framework into the systems of educator and leader preparation including curriculum design, culture initiatives, and co-curricular activities. Deployed a comprehensive online toolkit at the end of Q2 2021 and began sharing with the wider education community. Overcame pockets of resistance by engaging faculty in large groups, 1:1 relationship building, and linking Principled Innovation to individual research interests with additional relevance to systemic equity.Hosted workshops and convenings, and presented globally at symposiums and conferences.
