Tucson, AZ, US

Within this role I am responsible for identifying pressing industry issues (skilled workforce, professional miners, gaps in research.) and then designing and implementing practical, sustainable solutions. Chief among these is an ESG program for the School of Mining and Mineral resources which will continuously act as a beacon for guiding rational and useful ESG thought for mining.\\\\n\\\\nI have been responsible for the design and initiation of this program which has included conducting desk research, building stakeholder allegiance on priority issues, and operationalizing solutions.\\\\n\\\\nBeyond ESG, I use my broad background to enhance our ability to support transdisciplinary mining professionals. Examples include:\\\\n- Identifying the talent gap in economic geologists in Spring 2022. Proceeded to collect information from industry, public reports, and mining professionals to then recommend ways to improve the competence and attractiveness of economic geology for students. Solutions included low-hanging fruit like establishing an economic geology focus, introducing an industry-lead geostats course, and the first American student core shack.\\\\n- Driven by a stakeholder workshop consensus, I am designing a course for contextualizing mining for general audiences to be taught as a general education course.\\\\n \\\\n\\\\n \\\\n \\\\n\\\\n \\\\n
