About Caelan Hidalgo Schick
Caelan Hidalgo Schick is the Project Coordinator for the Northeast region with the Sierra Club based in Pittsburgh, PA. She holds a Master of Public and International Affairs from the University of Pittsburgh with a certificate in Latin American Studies and a Bachelor’s in Philosophy and Political Science from Boston University. Caelan’s professional background includes several nonprofit organizations, political experience, and time spent as an independent contractor. During her time as Vice President of Strategy and Advancement for The Equity | Impact Center, Caelan supported start-up operations, curated events and opportunities for organizational advancement, and managed relationships for client-based work. As Latinx Constituency Director for the Pennsylvania Democratic Party, Caelan worked with community leaders, small-business owners, elected officials, and partner organizations to build a long-term infrastructure for culturally competent engagement with Latinos in Pennsylvania. In her independent project-based work, Caelan curates events and supports the development of operational, community engagement, and fundraising strategies for startup initiatives. Caelan is passionate about curating opportunities to connect people and advancing equity, inclusion, and sustainability in all of her work. During her tenure on the Board of Director of Island Press, a nonprofit environmental publishing house, Caelan advocated for the inclusion of more diverse voices on the Board, creating the Emerging Leader board seat for a young professional interested in the environmental and/ or publishing industries. Her leadership and community impact has been recognized through the Cole & Marty Blaiser Award from Pitt’s Center for Latin American Studies, the Johnson Institute for Responsible Leadership Portfolio Program Certificate Award, and the inaugural \"Inclusion Award for Community Building\" from the Association of Professional Schools of International Affairs (APSIA) for the Students of Color Alliance, an organization that she co-founded.
