About Cadence Bayley
Cadence Bayley, AIA is an architect and educator focused on multifamily housing. Her work spans public, nonprofit, and private development, with an emphasis on high-quality housing and strengthening existing communities. She believes that good housing depends as much on process and collaboration as on design and is deeply invested in understanding and untangling the practical realities of how housing is made, working with stakeholders, regulatory frameworks, and project constraints. She is a founding partner of Nominal, an architecture and design firm based in Boston and Minneapolis. She teaches housing design studios and seminars at Northeastern University and currently serves as Co-Chair of the Boston Society for Architecture’s Small Practices Exchange. Her background spans over a decade of practice in New York, San Francisco, and London, including work on large-scale housing, commercial, and urban design projects.
