About Cayla Bellamy
Dr. Cayla Bellamy is Assistant Professor of Bassoon at Colorado State University, where she teaches courses in bassoon, chamber music, and contemporary music performance. Last season, Cayla began a national concerto series as soloist in works by Joan Tower, Libby Larsen, and James Stephenson, concluding with a premiere of John Steinmetz’ The Illusion of Separateness. She released her debut album, Double or Nothing (Mark Masters), in 2018 and is currently recording her second project, a collection of contemporary works by American composers. A multifaceted artist-educator, Cayla has also served on the conducting faculties for the New York Summer School of the Arts and the Emory Youth Symphony Orchestra, as well as a variety of collegiate theatre, opera, and wind band programs. Offstage, she is an amateur endurance athlete with research focusing on burnout, coaching methodologies, and the intersections of artistic and athletic training. Find her online at
