About Ratti Rani
I’m someone who believes that learning doesn’t end with a degree, a designation, or even a doctorate it’s a lifelong adventure. Curiosity has been my compass, and it has taken me from balance sheets to law and eventually into classrooms where I discovered my true calling.I’ve always believed numbers have a personality of their own; they can be precise, stubborn, even dramatic. Maybe that’s why I became a Chartered Accountant first to understand their language. But curiosity didn’t let me stop there. Law gave me structure, research made me dig deeper, and teaching? Teaching gave me purpose.Today, I wear many hats: Professor at IBS Mumbai, PhD scholar in Forensic Accounting, lawyer, and lifelong learner. But at the heart of it all, I’m someone who loves turning the intimidating world of finance into something students not only understand but actually enjoy. My IBS journey has been the most rewarding chapter yet. From teaching subjects, I’ve discovered that classrooms are far more than four walls; they’re launchpads for confidence, curiosity, and careers.Beyond academics, I’ve had the privilege of mentoring students for placements and taking preparatory sessions to help them step into the professional world with confidence. I also co-authored a book on Accounting for Managers, blending academic rigour with practical insights.Along the way, I’ve also had the privilege of mentoring through CountShield, our student-driven club that connects finance theory with real-world practice. Beyond finance, I’ve encouraged holistic development as a mentor for Soundstreet (the music club) and Envogue (the fashion club), because growth, after all, isn’t just about numbers, it’s about expression, creativity, and confidence. Watching students experiment, fail, and succeed has been just as much a learning curve for me as it has been for them. Before IBS, I freelanced across several institutions in Mumbai (2008–2017), where every new batch of students taught me the importance of adaptability and empathy. And before that, my corporate years at Zenta (2005–2008) gave me a front-row seat to the intersection of finance, business operations, and people development. If I had to describe myself in one line, I’m a Fellow Chartered Accountant who fell in love with teaching and never looked back. Finance may be my subject, but helping people grow is my passion. Let’s connect! I’m always excited to exchange ideas, discuss finance, education, or share stories about lifelong learning.
