ABOUT BYRON WECKWORTH
I have over 25 years of experience working within, and collaborating across, academic, industry, non-profit, government, and indigenous sectors on conservation planning, research, advocacy, and fundraising. My work has emphasized innovation and leadership in conservation efforts related to securing healthy human and wildlife communities, species connectivity, and biodiversity preservation. In addition to my academic training as a scientist, employment in the non-profit sector has introduced me to new ways of knowing, and experience in understanding when and how to combine science with other knowledge bases to be impactful in conservation from grass roots efforts at local scales, to transboundary, large-landscape project development and implementation. My strengths include building and managing dynamic programs to address complex conservation issues, assembling and engaging diverse stakeholder groups to network problem-solving, mentoring and elevating those around me, and having a keen eye for how best to champion science and conservation messages to effectively communicate them to donor, public, and scientific audiences.
