About Byron Roethler
I have 28+ years of experience in the Military and Commercial Aerospace Display Electronics industry.From 2023 to present, I am the Associate Director of Engineering, leading the Helmet and Headworn Display team in Vision Systems. In this role, I lead a group of 70+ engineers that include Technical Project Managers, Systems, Electrical, Mechanical and Optical engineers in development of Helmet Mounted Displays and Headworn Displays.From 2019 to 2023, I was Associate Director of Engineering, leading the Tactical Displays team for Head-Up Guidance Systems. In this role, I led a group of up to 120+ engineers that included Technical Project Managers, Systems, Electrical, Mechanical and Optical engineers in development of Helmet Mounted Displays and Military glare shield mounted Head-Up Displays.From 2015 to 2019, I was Principal Engineering Manager, leading the Hardware Engineering team for Head-Up Guidance Systems. In this role, I led a group of 75+ engineers that included Electrical, Mechanical and Optical engineers in development and support of commercial and military Head-Up Displays, Helmet Mounted Displays and Enhanced Vision Systems.From 2009 to 2015, I was a Functional Manager leading a group of Mechanical and Product Integrity Engineers as large as 24 engineers. My group supported Heads-Up Display, Helmet Mounted Display and Enhanced Vision System projects in all lifecycle phases; including initial research, design, integration, test and initial production. In this leadership role, I provided staff to projects, technical guidance/expertise along with direct staff management and development.From 2003 to 2009, I was a Project Engineer/Technical Project Manager, leading multi-disciplinary engineering development teams through all project life cycle phases; from initial start-up through qualification and flight testing. I have led Head Down Display, Helmet Mounted Display and Head-Up Display projects ranging in size from $1M to $10M+.I have previously held a Government Clearance.Specialties: Project Management - Leading multi-disciplinary teams from project start-up through design & development to qualification testing.Multi-disciplinary project leadership, project planning including schedule development and tracking, cost baselining, metrics analysis, customer service, recognizing and understanding priorities, mentoring, training, staff management, team building, process improvement
