ABOUT BYRON EVANS

I work in close partnership with Mercer’s Investment and Pension businesses to shape and deliver AI strategy, from opportunity identification through to measurable client and commercial impact. My focus is on applying AI where it meaningfully improves decision-making, productivity, and client outcomes, ensuring initiatives are adopted at scale and embedded into how teams operate rather than remaining isolated proofs of concept.Based in London, I bring a strong background in product leadership, with particular depth in early-stage product development and discovery. I prioritise outcomes that matter most to clients and stakeholders, aligning technology initiatives with clear business objectives so that AI solutions deliver sustained impact rather than incremental outputs.I hold an Executive MBA from Henley Business School, which underpins my ability to combine technical expertise with strategic management and leadership. This foundation supports my work guiding teams through change, balancing innovation with the operational and governance requirements of complex organisations.Before joining Mercer, I co-founded a greenfield startup within Lloyds Banking Group, helping transform its commercial banking division into a platform-as-a-service capability. I also contributed to the creation of several of the UK’s most innovative, award-winning institutional finance products, and later led product strategy and vision for a next-generation receivables financing platform at Close Brothers, overseeing a portfolio exceeding $1.5bn in lending.I am passionate about technology’s potential to drive positive, durable change and committed to fostering a culture where innovation thrives and clients benefit from AI’s full potential. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my young family, playing golf (badly, when time allows), advising early-stage companies in the blockchain and Bitcoin space, and serving as a School Governor at Harris Academy in Bermondsey, London.
