ABOUT ALEXANDER BUTLER

Passionate, Charismatic, and Inquisitive, Alex is a Research Associate & Project Manager supporting the work of Dr. Arthur Herman and the Quantum Alliance Initiative at the Hudson Institute in Washington D.C. Sporting a BS in Economics from James Madison University, Alex specializes in both qualitative and quantitative research and analysis on topics at the intersection of economics, international affairs, and national defense. His economic interests include Economic Analysis, Macroeconomic Development, Political Economics, Resource Management, and International Relations & Trade. At Hudson, Alex is currently researching areas including quantum information sciences (and their national security implications), critical industry supply chain management, industrial policy, and macroeconomic and econometric modeling, and their application to Defense Economics. Privately, Alex is the author of the essay “Quantum Tuesday: How the U.S. Economy Will Fall, & How to Stop It.” in the forthcoming anthology \"Quantum Intelligence: the Convergence of Artificial Intelligence and Quantum Computing. An Anthology\",(University of Toronto Press, Spring 2022). He is also researching areas including the efficacy of contemporary economic measurements and indicators, intra- & inter-national income inequality (and their effect on growth), and is also writing a geopolitical thriller novel. Moreover, Alex is generally interested in foreign policy, international affairs, and defense issues. Alex is also passionate about inter-American (hemispheric) relations, both creative and academic writing, and sustainable and future-oriented policy. He plans to further incorporate these interests into his daily life through his work at the Hudson Institute and ultimately pursue a graduate degree incorporating his passions in economics and international relations.
