About Burt Thomas

We work with institutions and industry to develop and deploy processes that enable reliance on abundant domestic minerals. The Office of Advanced Mining and Mineral Production Technologies is making major investments to catalyze regional efforts, to accelerate technology development for prospecting, mining, processing, and metal production. If we\'re successful we will unlock new domestic resources and pathways to leave no liabilities behind. The mines of the future will not be like the mines of the past, and we are investing in training, personnel, and facilities to secure America’s critical mineral future.
