About Paul Bundy
Inspired by experiences with my children, public archaeology, and all of the teachers in my life, I formally began my second meaningful career path as an elementary educator in 2019. Earning a Master of Arts in teaching in 2021 and building on that education by continuing to learn from experienced educators and students in the elementary classroom. I will always be learning and growing. The field of education is full of worthwhile challenges and is incredibly rewarding. While I will always be an archaeologist, I believe I have also always strived to be a teacher. A lifelong learner, teaching the future about the past in the present. An educated and cultured laborer with 20+ years of anthropological/archaeological/cultural resources experience in the mid-west and southeastern United States, I hold a master\'s degree in anthropology with an emphasis in public archaeology. Years studying anthropology, history, and traveling led to an appreciation of the variety of cultural expression, histories of different peoples, and a better understanding of the world we live in. Every experience changes us and opens our world to new perspectives if we are listening and paying attention. My experience as a professional archaeologist working in the eastern half of the United States includes fieldwork with phase I archaeological surveys covering a total of over acres, phase II archaeological testing projects (including Late Archaic, Early Woodland, Middle Woodland, and Mississippian sites), and phase data recoveries/research excavations (including Early, Middle, and Late Archaic; Middle and Late Woodland; Mississippian; and late nineteenth to early twentieth century sites). All of this fieldwork resulted in peer reviewed research published in technical reports, peer reviewed journals, or (when not sensitive information) released to the public and presented at professional conferences.
