About Brandon B Striker Straker

Throughout my life, I’ve interwoven my passions for education, languages, and service, from overcoming early speech challenges to earning a Spanish major with minors in Linguistics and Education. My experiences as an AmeriCorps member in San Antonio and a student leader at Middlebury shaped me into a creative thinker and bridge-builder, dedicated to fostering belonging and empowerment. After guiding fellow students abroad in Madrid—especially those from underrepresented backgrounds—I returned to Middlebury to lead as SGA President and complete an education studies capstone. In a full-circle moment, the boy who once struggled to speak stood before thousands to deliver the Class of 2025 graduation speech. Now, as a Teach For America corps member, I continue evolving—one language, one student, one community, and one voice at a time.

As a full-time educator, I teach several classes of English Language Learners at The Historic Paul Laurence Dunbar High School. Returning to the very high school that I graduated from in this role, I continue to adapt and deliver lessons aligned with Common Core standards and Universal Design for Learning. I implement classroom systems grounded in social-emotional learning and anti-racist practices, while engaging in intensive professional development on pedagogy, data-driven instruction, and culturally responsive teaching.
