My research interests include decision making under uncertainty (evaluating strategic projects as real options), complex planning and allocation problems (multi-agent systems for planning and optimization). I have a more recent interest in the application of decision theory to public choice problems (including preference elicitation) and a growing sideline in Bayesian inference (e.g, Markov Chain Monte Carlo primarily in PyMC). I used to teach a broad range of classic Information Systems courses such as database and systems analysis and design but now I teach mostly hands-on business analytics (with a decision theoretic spin). Topics include hypothesis testing and regression (SAS Enterprise Guide with some R, Python, and Excel), Bayesian networks, data mining (classification and regression trees in KNIME), Monte Carlo simulation (@Risk) and decision tree analysis (PrecisionTree). I still think data is a big part of this so try to include dimensional data models and some OLAP and dashboards (Pentaho, Tableau, Power BI).
