About Bryant N. Gomez
I am a fifth-year doctoral student in the Basic and Applied Social Psychology Program at The Graduate Center, City University of New York. My research explores how identity, affective, and cultural processes shape the experiences and self-understanding of systemically marginalized groups, such as Hispanic/Latiné individuals. Specifically, I explore how social and cultural stigma impacts attitudes toward education and healthcare, as well as how cultural mismatch and identity threat cues influence identity safety and psychosocial outcomes in these settings. In addition to my doctoral work, I am a Graduate Researcher at the Hunter Alliance for Research and Translation (HART) and the Stigma and Identity Lab at John Jay College of Criminal Justice. I’m also an affiliate at Diversity Science Research Collective at Brooklyn College and an instructor at Hunter College. My goal with this research is to examine and address the systemic inequities that marginalized groups face in academic and healthcare institutions by identifying mechanisms that perpetuate these disparities and developing interventions that foster belonging, identity safety, and equitable outcomes. If you would like to reachout, contact me at b•••••@gradcenter.cuny.edu
