Company SnapshotCraftspace is a design + build company that creates modular shipping container homes & cabins. In addition to predesigned & engineered models, the company also designs & builds custom single-family container homes as well as commercial structures. Focusing primarily within the state of North Carolina, Craftspace\'s container structures are architecturally designed and engineered to meet the NC building code and are approved by the State of North Carolina as a modular-certified building.Work HighlightsThe idea for Craftspace was inspired by my experience planning and designing a coworking space for Coworx (see below). The project involved the adaptive reuse of an old warehouse. Rather than using traditional stick-built construction to create interior offices, we repurposed old shipping containers. In conjunction with the development of the Coworx office space, I played an integral role in the launch of The Cargo District, an urban revitalization project encompassing several city blocks and featuring container apartments, restaurants and boutique shops. These experiences re-ignited my passion for architecture & design. To date, the Craftspace portfolio has encompassed everything from backyard art studios and pool cabanas to custom container homes and a multi-story boutique hotel.
