View department →

Long Beach, CA, US

I am an adjunct professor/instructor for Real Estate Practice and Property Management courses. I taught 6 semesters of on-campus courses and have since taught 4 semesters of online courses. My courses tend to have 35-45 students per course. Online courses are self-guided and students are provided with numerous resources to not only prepare them for the real estate salesperson and broker exams but also to prepare them for their own personal real estate transactions. Students also receive guidance in finding the right brokerages and industry niches that best suit their interests and strengths.

ABOUT BRYAN THORNHILL

I am an ambitious and competitive leader in the hospitality industry. I excel in staffing, training, maximizing revenue, and improving guest satisfaction. I have experience in the following: opening new properties, reviving struggling properties, revenue management (One Yield), accounts payable/receivable (M3), ordering/receiving/inventory management, housekeeping and maintenance systems (HotSOS), F&B (Micros), and OTA management, as well as experience with the property management systems FOSSE and HMS. I lack experience in sales but I am learning more each day. I believe that being passionate about hospitality and having the ambition to be the best, coupled with the ability to inspire others to embrace both mindsets, is the key to success in the hospitality industry. I believe staff are most effective when they are well-trained, and feel most respected when they are granted the autonomy to make decisions that they know are in the best interest of the hotel. As a hotel leader I will cultivate beneficial relationships in the community and the industry, and find new and innovative ways to both grow occupancy and provide exceptional value and show appreciation to strengthen the loyalty of current accounts. I will create a work environment where staff are valued - a work environment that makes them look forward to coming to work each day. I will develop all staff using training calendars to ensure that they are always growing and increasing their overall knowledge and value. I believe that being able to promote from within is a sign of high quality recruitment and training. When given the opportunity, I believe that I will improve the overall operations and profitability of any hotel.
