The Director of Transportation is responsible for all operations and personnel within the pupil transportation division of the Cobb County School District. The Cobb County School District is the 2nd largest school system in Georgia and the 23rd largest in the nation. It serves over students, 112 schools, one charter school, one special education center and one performance learning center. The transportation division is responsible for transporting over students each day using buses, which is more than MARTA.

   Supervises the daily transportation operations servicing 110 schools consisting of a cumulative enrollment of students• Assists the Executive Director of Transportation with all operations and personnel in the department which includes: six Area Supervisors, five department heads, four dispatchers, 24 Field Coordinators, and a total of over school bus drivers and school bus monitors combined• Serves as the direct liaison between the department and Human Resources for all employee relations matters• Investigation of bus accident reports and initiate proper action• Responsible for completing annual evaluations on six Area Supervisors, four dispatchers, the Safety & Training Coordinator, the Assistant Safety & Training Coordinator, the head of the recruiting, and one direct secretary• Coordinates and implements all random and post-accident drug/alcohol testing for CDL holders• Investigates violations of state or local board rules and regulations• Makes annual recommendations for budget needs and improvements to the Executive Director of Transportation• Reviews route data periodically, taking necessary action to correct inefficiencies• Streamlines office operations to include: Investigating Worker’s Compensation reports and initiating action to eliminate job hazards; providing mandatory reports to the State Department of Education; coordination of Human Resources and recruitment efforts; updating the Transportation Employee Handbook; updating the Transportation Department Discipline Manual; communication of new policies and procedures; conducting weekly leadership meetings; performs other duties as assigned by the Executive Director of Transportation• Attends local, regional, and state meetings as assigned by the Executive Director of Transportation
