Senior Vice President (Elect) - Section Engagement Sector @ASME (The American Society of Mechanical Engineers)

The SVP of the Section Engagement (SE) sector serves as the Chair of the SE Council, responsible foradvising ASME staff on business, event, and program initiatives that support local sections in advancingASME\'s mission to advance engineering for the benefit of humanity. The SVP works with the Board of Governors and the Chief Executive Officer of ASME in considering and implementing long-term planning, key strategies, and growth in accordance with the professional and financial goals of ASME. The SVP applies a high-level of leadership, strategic thinking, delegation, and organizational skills to collaborate with other ASME Sectors and committee chairs, volunteer leaders, and ASME staff to achieve organizational goals. The SVP interfaces with the ASME Board of Governors and Executive Staff and a broad range of ASME groups and volunteers to effectively establish strategic direction, communicate priorities, secure resources, and support the objectives of the Sector. The SVP presides at council meetings, collaborates with staff and volunteer leaders, and has enterprise-level objectives in common with his/her staff counterparts/partners at the council level.Responsibilities• Facilitates communication with the Board of Governors.• Collaborates with staff and council members to develop communication, administrative, and• financial strategies.• Reviews and evaluates new opportunities for sections to enhance the local experience.• Guides the volunteer groups under Sector’s purview.• Ensures Sector compliance with established policies.• Ensures activities comply with and advance ASME’s mission.• Oversees the Committees that report to the Sector.• Represents or assigns representation to Cross Collaborative efforts with other Sectors.• Manages the dispute/resolution process among Committees and volunteers.
