About Bryan Haley
I am an Archaeologist, Remote-Sensing and GIS Specialist, and Project Manager with the Coastal Environments Inc. New Orleans office. I specialize in archaeological, environmental, and geotechnical applications of geospatial technologies, including geophysics (GPR, magnetometry, electrical resistivity, EMI), airborne remote sensing (including UAS / drones, multispectral, TIR, and LiDAR), GIS, GPS / GNSS, and marine survey. I also have experience with all phases of cultural resource management projects. My 22 years of experience includes projects in 25 American states, as well as in Belize, Mexico, Peru, Italy, Scotland, France, Cyprus, Uganda, and Micronesia. I have also participated in a number of professional training sessions as instructor (such as those sponsored by the NCPTT, NPS, SEAC, US Forest Service, the University of Mississippi, and GPR Slice software), publications (including Archaeological Remote Sensing in North America: Innovative Techniques for Anthropological Applications and Remote Sensing in Archaeology, An Explicitly North American Perspective), and two seasons of the PBS television series Time Team America I have worked on a wide variety of archaeological site types and time periods, but specialize in Native American sites and complex societies of the Southeast. My 2002 MA thesis research at the University of Mississippi, in conjunction with NASA\'s Stennis Space Center, explored the use of multispectral sensors and GIS analysis at Hollywood Mounds, a Mississippian-period mound center in Tunica County, MS. I have been ABD from Tulane University since 2017 and my ongoing PhD dissertation work also focuses on Hollywood Mounds and analyzes geophysical, airborne multispectral, LiDAR, excavation, radiocarbon, and artifact data. The goal of the research is to better understand Mississippian site struture and the regional political dynamics in the Lower Mississippi River Valley.
