While my journey into EOD initially sparked from a thirst for adventure, it was the opportunity to lead exceptional individuals and engage in purpose-driven work that kept me committed for an entire career.Transitioning from the Navy, I was entrusted with leading Maryland\'s COVID-19 response and recovery efforts during the global pandemic. Tasked with safeguarding the health and well-being of citizens amidst uncertainty, I directed a vast organization comprising 2,700 personnel and managed a substantial budget exceeding $300 million annually. Collaborating closely with my team, we devised and executed comprehensive strategies aimed at mitigating the pandemic\'s impact across various health domains.Employing strategic foresight and decisive leadership, we orchestrated large-scale initiatives in vaccination drives, testing facilities, contact tracing programs, and bolstered hospital surge capacity, ensuring the availability of vital personal protective equipment (PPE). Our efforts were validated as Maryland emerged as a national exemplar in pandemic management, achieving commendable rankings in fewest deaths per capita and percentage of vaccinated residents.
