KRP\'s predecessor company, Kentucky River Coal Corporation, was founded in 1915.In Central Appalachia, KRP owns approximately acres of fee and mineral right property in Breathitt, Clay, Floyd, Harlan, Knott, Leslie, Letcher, Perry and Pike Counties, Kentucky. Approximate of the acreage is owned in fee (surface and mineral rights). The majority of the fee property is forested with hardwood timber stands.KRP is working on the development of utility scale solar farm on reclaimed coal mines in eastern Kentucky.
