ABOUT BRUNO CADONNA

I enjoy solving problems and learning new things. I can unfold great enthusiasm and perseverance in these two activities. This characteristic led me to graduate as a Ph.D. in computer science and to become a passionate software developer. My guiding principle in software development is to write clean, efficient, and robust code that is easy to maintain. Well-designed code, tests, build automation, and code reviews are fundamental to achieve this. I have participated in the development of a distributed database system for large-scale data processing (a.k.a.\"Big Data\"), a cloud application for Finance, and web applications for health care. The sizes of the teams that worked on one product range between 10 and 100 developers. I have been part of a Scrum team and have led a Kanban-based development process in a subteam of three people. I have coded in C++, C, Scala, Java, and Python among others. My research during my time as Ph.D. student and postdoc has been centered around data management with a focus on data stream and event processing, data mining, and large-scale data processing. I have published articles in top-ranked peer-reviewed research conferences, have reviewed articles for conferences and journals, have lectured at university, and have supervised students. My working style is based on motivation, focus, commitment, and structure. My aim is to keep things - in programming and in general - simple, clear, and concise. Furthermore, I believe that kindness, openness, honesty, fairness, and tolerance are fundamental for good teamwork.I enjoy working in an international environment; I grew up with two cultures, I have lived in five different countries, and I have collaborated with people from more than a dozen different countries. I am fluent in German, Italian and English. In my leisure time, I like to read books, cook, and hike.
