ABOUT BRUNO PURNODE
Bruno Purnode earned an M.S. & Ph.D. degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Université Catholique de Louvain, Belgium. He also holds a M.S. in Industrial Engineering from the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, Belgium.He has more than 30 years of experience in the field of mathematical modeling of fluid flow and heat transfer. He began his career in the field of non-Newtonian fluid mechanics, viscoelastic flow modeling and was one of the original developers of the CFD software Ansys Polyflow.Besides a research position in the oil & gas industry with ExxonMobil, Bruno Purnode has worked in the glass industry with Owens Corning for 25 years in various R&D and leadership positions. He is member of the Senior Technical Staff, focused on numerical simulation and modeling of advanced manufacturing processes. Bruno Purnode has written over 50 research papers and reports, is regularly invited to speak at international conferences, and has several patents. He has been active for 20 years in the Glass Manufacturing Industry Council (GMIC), a technical and trade association based in the U.S. He is currently serving on GMIC’s Board of Directors and completed terms as Vice-President (2010) & President (2011). He has served on the Advisory Board of the Glass Problems Conference (20••••16). He is also on the Managing Board of Netherlands-based research organization Glass Trend.He is a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) and was part of the core team that developed an ASME Standard and Guide for the Energy Assessment of Process Heating Systems.
