ABOUT BRUCE SPIVEY
Bruce E. Spivey, MD, MEd, MS Dr. Spivey is the Past President of the International Council of Ophthalmology. He resides in San Francisco.Dr. Spivey served as the first EVP and CEO (Chief Executive Officer) of the American Academy of Ophthalmology (19••••92). He also served as CEO of: California Pacific Medical Center 19••••92 (where he was also Chief of Ophthalmology 19••••87); and, the California Healthcare System 19••••92, all in San Francisco. Dr. Spivey then served as CEO of Northwestern Healthcare Network, a multi-hospital system in Chicago from 19••••97, and from 19••••01 he was CEO of Columbia-Cornell Care in New York. Dr. Spivey has been President of the American Board of Medical Specialties and the Council of Medical Specialty Societies as well as the American Ophthalmological Society and the Society of Medical Administrators. He is a founder of the Ophthalmic Mutual Insurance Company and is a trustee/director many organizations including the International Council of Ophthalmology Foundation, Coe College, Pacific Vision Foundation, and Helen Keller International. He is the author of over 130 scientific publications.
