About Bruce Hammond

Bruce Hammond, CAE has served as a leading association/non-profit strategist for nearly 25 years. After a successful three year run as chief executive for the American College of Academic Addiction Medicine (ACAAM) and four and a half years with the Hospice Medical Director Certification Board (HMDCB), Hammond currently serves as the Executive Director/CEO for the American Pediatric Society (APS) and Society for Pediatric Research (SPR). Previously, he led the governance & operations efforts for the American Society of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology (ASPHO) and served in marketing & communications leadership roles for Association Management Center, the National Sporting Goods Association and the Delta Sigma Phi National Headquarters. He also spent nearly three years as Assistant Director of Alumni Relations at his alma mater, Ohio Northern University. Hammond is an active member and volunteer for the Association Forum (where he currently serves as its Secretary/Treasurer, and will serve as Chair-elect in 2026-27 and Chair in 2027-28). In the past he has chaired several Association Forum committees and served on the Communication Section Council for ASAE: The Center for Association Leadership. He has also served as a committee and ad hoc volunteer for the Institute for Credentialing Excellence. He has spoken at numerous professional events and his articles have been featured in leading association trade publications. In 2014, he was named to the association industry\'s Forty Under 40 list, and in 2016 he earned his Certified Association Executive (CAE) credential.

   APS is the oldest pediatric society in North America, having been founded in I serve as Chief Executive of this 1,900 member medical society made up of many of the foremost pediatric leaders in North America. APS membership is a sought after recognition of the significant career accomplishments of its members, who provide clinical care, conduct research, and lead pediatric service at many of the most well-known academic medical centers in North America. I lead a team of dedicated professionals and work with volunteers to move society efforts forward, managing a budget of around $1M annually.
