About Bruce L. Castor
Mr. Castor served as District Attorney of Montgomery County PA from to 2008, and Commissioner from 2008 to 2016. In 2016 Castor served as Solicitor General and acting Atty Gen of Pennsylvania. Castor is a member in the Philadelphia law firm of van der Veen, O’Neill, Hartshorn, and Levin practicing general litigation, devising trial strategy and tactics. Mr. Castor prosecuted killers. In 1995, he received the National Trial Advocacy Award for investigating and prosecuting homicides, recognized twice for his efforts by the state legislature, and two PA governors. In 1990, he was the County\'s Law Enforcement Man of the Year. Castor is listed on the Bar Register of Preeminent Lawyers, and a \"PA Super Lawyer\" a dozen+ times. The Citizens Crime Comm. honored Castor multiple times. Mr. Castor entered the PA Police Hall of Fame in 2007. Castor is peer-chosen a Senior Fellow of Litigation Counsel of America and since 2013, listed as one of America\'s Top 100 Trial Lawyers. Castor served as 1stADA, DeputyDA (Ch. of Trials), ADA in charge of Major Crimes, and ADA of Sex Crimes. He ran the Grand Jury and supervised wiretaps. He also served as special prosecutor in various counties and for the Office of Attorney General. In addition to PA, Mr. Castor is a member of the Bar of the U.S. Supreme Court, the DC Court of Appeals, 3rd Circuit, the EDPA, MDPA, WDPA (pending). Mr. Castor is a Past-President of the PA DAs\' Assoc, member of the PA and Montgomery Bar Associations (a former director), and a founder of the PA Homicide Investigators\' Assoc. He served as a Trustee of Norristown State Hospital on appointment of three PA governors, on the Juvenile Court Rules Committee and the Judicial Reform Commission, appointed to both by the Pennsylvania Supreme Court. He also served on a Senate Select committee to improve the PA criminal justice system. He is married since 1989, with two grown children both of whom work in criminal justice fields.
