Develop and adopt consistent data management policies across key systems.• Offer guidance on how colleagues ethically obtain, procure, analyse and use data or systems that capture data, including those that claim to include elements of artificial intelligence or machine learning, • Identify relevant standards that can be used to enable effective delivery of the data governance framework.• Improve the sharing of data, both within the organisation and with external parties, that balances legal and commercial considerations with an aspiration for an “open by default” approach.• Build where appropriate on existing policies, to develop clear and comprehensive policies and procedural templates for the handling and processing of data. • Work with policy and operational teams to provide guidance and insights on how data should be managed effectively, and communicating guidance and policies to all colleagues.• Proactively engage and work with colleagues to implement appropriate data governance controls and ensure compliance with relevant data policies and principles.• Work with the data teams to develop and maintain a list of data-related risks for the wider organisation.• Build and maintain a network of relevant external partners (e.g. Information Commissioner’s Office, Office for National Statistics etc.), for the purpose of sharing best practice in data governance.• Build on existing guidance to update, develop and maintain a comprehensive set of policies and guidelines covering the ethical procurement, collection, processing and sharing of data.• Work as a Data Protection subject matter expert, promoting best practice and developing policies and procedures to support this.• Provide specialist advice and recommendations across a range of data protection topics including data breach management and data sharing.• Lead on the delivery of data protection training and awareness programmes.
