I believe that the best project managers are the ones that serve their team. We are there to keep projects organized and make everyone’s jobs, and lives, simpler. I serve the team by identifying potential issues, getting buy in from the team, removing impediments, and helping develop the team members both personally and professionally. Helping my teams achieve success is always more rewarding to me than my personal victories.I am always looking for ways to streamline processes to increase productivity. In my most recent role, I developed a system via excel for the team to submit requests for support electronically instead of writing requests on a whiteboard. I assisted in the implementation of JIRA for cross departmental change requests and trained the team in its functionality. While I don’t personally care for social networking, I love networking in a professional setting and truly understanding the role that each person and department plays over the course of a project. I worked in a siloed environment, and I made it a personal goal to break through as many silos as I could to establish contacts on the other side.I started my career in a shipyard with no technical knowledge and ended my career with nine successfully completed vessels under my belt. I am excited for the opportunity to expand my technical knowledge further by building a career in a new sector.
