Claim to fame.Raised 770 miles north of Minneapolis. I now live in Florida. I wonder why? Worked underground as a hardrock miner.Went to Texas to try to get a job overseas with no experience. After knocking on the same door every day for 3 months they called me and offered me a job as a ship navigator in Singapore. Never been to sea before! Never navigated! Goes to show what persistence can accomplish.Worked all around Southeast Asia on a research vessel prospecting for oil deposits.Circumnavigated Australia. Found the Hibernia Oilfield off the coast of Newfoundland by accident.Got written up the International Herald Tribune and all the major Spanish newspapers. A shipmate while “on the town” mentioned to reporters that vast oil reserves existed of the coast of Spain. Houston was not impressed. Almost caused a war between Greece and Turkey. A Greek destroyer came by our vessel and ordered us to leave Greek territory waters. Got boarded off Israel by an Israeli gunboat. They wanted to know what we were up to. Ordered away from Cyprus by a Turkish gunboat. The machineguns were manned While working off Libya, Gadhafi ordered his air force to find and sink us. I’ve been “Nowhere” equator 0° latitude and 0° longitudeWorked in Namibia and South Africa.Sailed around the Cape of Good Hope.I met and married my wife in England.Worked north of Purdue Bay positioning drilling rigs for exploration in the Beaufort Sea. Worked in the North Sea and Libya. I engineered the drilling fluids that were used to drill oil wells.Got interrogated by the British secret service. They thought I was connected with the IRA because I was working in Libya. They thought that I was involved in some UK bombings.Owned an import company in Canada bringing in goods from Hong Kong. Moved to Florida and setup a uniform supply company. I became an American citizen. I’m lucky to have a fantastic wife, four children and two grandchildren.Mine has been a quiet life!
