ABOUT BRUCE B. SIMPSON

I am an international leader in business and philanthropy who delivers business results through sustainability and societal impact. I am a Co-founder/Partner of AgeTech Capital, a VC/Impact fund which scales tech solutions that deliver healthier, wealthier and more fulfilling aging, extending health and wealth span to match longer lifespans. We target nextgen AI, which is easy to use personalise and scale, on 4 unmet needs.(1) Independent living: 85% of seniors want to live at home, but only one percent of homes are fitted with smart tech.(2) Caregiving 2,0: 70% of wage earners are also caregivers. Tech helps them do both.(3) Financial wellness: 2/3 Americans will run out of money before they die. Tech can help reskill, find appropriate jobs, protect against fraud and increase liquidity.(4) Empowered health and vitality: predictive analytics and cognitive diagnostics help anticipate health issues; other solutions unlock community engagement and purpose. I mentor AI startup incubators (eg CDL), and advise ESG startups: Tomorrow.io a weather intelligence company, and Re:Co an ESG data/services provider. I had led McKinsey\'s ESG/Purpose practice globally, was Managing Partner of McKinsey Canada, convened the global Operations Practice and served 12 years on McKinsey\'s global board. I am now a Senior Advisor to McKinsey on sustainability and health/AgeTech topics, and was previously an Advisor to Blackstone. I partnered with others on the book Reimagining Capitalism (2016), laying out how companies could deliver more equitable and sustainable leadership, benefitting stakeholders AND shareholders. I continue to share ideas on stakeholder capitalism, through 40+ articles, podcasts and speeches. I’m active in philanthropy, previously ran a Foundation, and am a current/past Board member of 6 leading NGO’s including Human Rights Watch, the Trans Canada Trail (environment), Catalyst (women in business), Sick Children’s Hospital, and the Smart Prosperity Institute. I am currently a Board member of Signal 49 Research, developing insights and initiatives for Canada’s growth and development.I am a Scot, now based in Toronto. I also lived in NYC, and Paris (12 years). I am bilingual in English/French. I have an MA and LLM from Cambridge University, and an MBA/MA in International Studies from Wharton, and the Lauder Institute. Prior to University I was a professional ski racer. My parents are arctic explorers. Time spent living with indigenous cultures in the arctic developed my early passion for sustainability and social causes.
