About Brooks Lin

My name is Brooks, and I am a rising senior McCombs student majoring in Finance, minoring in Management Information Systems, and completing a certificate in Elements of Computing. I recently interned at the investment bank Evercap Advisors as an analyst intern, focusing on finding private equity firms and their portfolio companies seeking add-on acquisitions. My primary contributions to the team have been sourcing acquisition targets, reaching out to them through cold-emailing, organizing databases, and creating a company presence on LinkedIn. As the first class of interns, I helped set up the groundwork of the firm by creating standard operating procedures and leading teams in the sourcing process. I am also running my own business BLYN Enterprises DBA “BLYN Toys,” where I manage all end-to-end operations. Starting at the end of 2020, my key responsibilities include networking and building relationships with wholesale distributors, processing inbound and outbound shipments, building our own brand presence and expanding into marketplace platforms such as Amazon, and handling customer service. In the past 12 months, we were able to generate more than in revenue and grow our TikTok presence to over followers. In university, I am currently an analyst in the USIT Consumer Industry fund, where we follow consumer retail market news and hold discussions with other analysts. During my freshman year, I learned accounting and finance fundamentals and practiced calculating intrinsic share prices of equities through discount cash flow analysis, and now I use my knowledge to compete in stock pitch competitions. A notable achievement was in November 2021 where my team and I competed and won 1st place out of 25 competing teams at the Texas Charity Pitch. At the competition, I assessed financial statements to analyze our charity’s social return on investment. Having spent the past few years gaining financial analysis experience in my organizations/internships and client facing experience in my entrepreneurial ventures, I believe the communication skills I have developed combined with my Finance background makes me a great asset on a team.
