ABOUT BROOKS ROCHE

Brooks is a collaborative leader in the Canadian patient engagement, advocacy, and access spaces. He has proudly worked to mobilize knowledge, spur transformative policy change, and raise awareness and funds through diverse grassroots and professional campaigns; a patient-centric and evidence-based decision maker, he strives to build meaningful connections with patient communities across serious diseases, leveraging his own lived and professional experience with chronic illness.In his role with Vertex, Brooks works with patient communities including type 1 diabetes, sickle cell disease, beta thalassemia, cystic fibrosis, and myotonic dystrophy, and strives to build meaningful partnerships, raise awareness of novel therapies and clinical trials in Canada, and ultimately integrate the voices and priorities of patients into the drug discovery process.Brooks is an alumnus of the Prime Minister\'s Youth Council, where he provided non-partisan advisory to the federal government on public policy and prioritized the development of a national framework for diabetes, increased financial supports for Canadians with disabilities, and equitable access. As an advocate, he worked in partnership with federal and Atlantic provincial governments to introduce and expand public access to innovative diabetes treatments.
