ABOUT BROOKS ESSER
Brooks currently serves as Vice Chair of the Board of Directors of the San Mateo County Transit District (SamTrans). The San Mateo County Transit District is the administrative body for the principal public transit and transportation programs in San Mateo County: SamTrans bus service, including Redi-Wheels paratransit service, Caltrain commuter rail and the San Mateo County Transportation Authority. Caltrain and the TA have contracted with the District to serve as their managing agency, under the direction of their appointed boards.Brooks was appointed to the San Mateo County Parks and Recreation Commission in April 2025. He represents Supervisorial District 4 and works with the County Board of Supervisors to provide residents with recreational opportunities, and to protect and enhance the natural resources of the County.Brooks is also a member of the Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District Measure AA Bond Oversight Committee, which is charged ensuring accountability, transparency and public oversight of all funds collected and allocated under Measure AA. Brooks continues to serve on the North Fair Oaks Community Council and has completed three terms as Chair. The North Fair Oaks Community Council provides recommendations to the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors on issues of community health, safety, welfare, public works and planning for North Fair Oaks. North Fair Oaks is an unincorporated community of residents bordering Redwood City, Menlo Park and Atherton, California. It is one of the most culturally diverse areas of the county with a large Latino/a population.In addition, Brooks is the Treasurer of the Holbrook-Palmer Park Foundation in Atherton, CA, as well as a Board Member of the Eberhardt Business School at the University of the Pacific, and the California Senior Games Association.
