About Brooklyn Harden

I\'ve always had a deep passion for language how it shapes communication, identity, and culture. When I began my college journey at the University of Delaware as a Linguistics major, I thought I had my path figured out. That changed during my sophomore year when I took a Computer Science course and unexpectedly fell in love with it.At first, I doubted whether I belonged in tech. The field felt intimidating, and I didn’t see myself represented. But the more I explored the connections between Linguistics and Computer Science, the more I saw a unique opportunity to bridge both worlds. Encouraged by my professors and mentors especially women in STEM, I realized I do belong here.That realization solidified during my internship at Stanford University, where I researched the intersection of AI systems and African American Language. The experience opened my eyes to the biases that exist in tech and the urgent need for inclusive, ethical design, especially in AI and language technologies.Today, I’m passionate about integrating linguistic knowledge with technical skills to tackle real-world problems in tech. I love problem-solving, continuous learning, and challenging myself in spaces where I’m still growing. I want to be part of creating a tech industry that’s not just innovative but also inclusive and accountable.Interests: NLP (Natural Language Processing), Sociolinguistics, African American Language, Black Linguistics, Raciolinguistics, Responsible AI, Ethical Tech, Language & Identity, Diversity in STEM.
