ABOUT BROOKE MACAULAY

No matter what you aspire to, you\'ve got to love what you do in order to be successful at it\"- Michelle Obama I am a civil engineer who graduated from the University of Waterloo in Civil Engineering. My undergraduate program offered co-op placements where I was able to alternate between my studies and working in the real world every four months. This allowed me to graduate in 2021 with two full years of experience in my field. This experience further developed my understanding of course material, and vice versa. From it I gained a fuller education and was left better prepared for the work force after graduation. I saw these co-ops as a learning opportunity and was extremely eager to gain as much knowledge as I could in the short period of time. In my free time I enjoy outdoor activities such as camping, hiking, and swimming. I am an amateur rock climber who is persistent in reaching the top. With the University of Waterloo I was able to participate in a student design team called Warrior Home. The team\'s goal is to design and build a net-zero energy home that is sustainable and affordable for low income families. They are partnered with Habitat for Humanity to help make this happen, and aim to build a new home every year, with the help of many volunteers. This experience was truly amazing and has positively impacted my life in ways I cannot describe. In the end I aspire to be someone who can make a difference in the world through their work and their passions. I believe I am on the right path.
