About Brooke Babineau
I am curious. I like hard problems. The brain is my favorite organ but I can get excited about any scientific challenge. I am also competitive. This makes me not a great invite for board game night but an excellent addition to a results-driven team. My passion for science started by a personal interaction growing up with a friend diagnosed with a neurodevelopment disorder. I was curious. I wanted to understand how her brain might be working differently to create the challenges in perception and expression that she experienced. That desire led me to diverse academic career which included investigating the social and emotional consequences of brain injury in animal models, gaining expertise in behavioral phenotyping methods and applying them to complex genetic models of neurodevelopmental and neuropsychiatric disorders, as well as exploring how environmental factors, such as inflammation, interact with genetic risk for disease. As an industry scientist I have been applying my expertise to the development of therapeutics for pediatric CNS disease and diseases of aging. I\'ve led cross functional teams driving towards candidate nomination and have been the scientific lead of in vivo groups supporting multiple pipeline programs. I strive to be an empathic leader and a collaborative teammate. I also enthusiastically support patient advocacy groups by providing scientific direction. I feel strongly that understanding the lived experience is critical to developing the right therapeutics. I value efficiency and open communication. I like team sports and team science. I\'m a mom. If you have a hard problem that needs solving, I\'d love to take a shot at it!
