ABOUT BROOKE ABOLA

Finance attorney with experience in affordable housing, public finance, real estate, compliance, public law and procurement, and various types of commercial contracts. I enjoy engaging deeply with complex transactions and matters, gaining a full understanding of the client’s goals, and working collaboratively with colleagues, clients and other key stakeholders to craft responsive legal advice. I currently advise Fannie Mae’s multifamily affordable housing team on transactional and regulatory matters. My previous experience includes advising San Francisco International Airport on matters relating to finance, grants, federal regulatory compliance, procurements, commercial contracts and ethics, as well as serving on the negotiation team for the next airport-airline lease and use agreement. Before that I advised the MTC and BATA on various commercial and real estate arrangements, federal regulatory compliance, privacy law, conflicts of interest, and legislative strategy. Prior to that, I was a partner in public finance at Orrick advising issuers and underwriters of tax-exempt bonds to finance transportation, water, higher education, K-12 school and nonprofit facilities and other infrastructure. I also supported or led teams serving as sponsor\'s, lender\'s or government agency counsel in public-private partnership and concession financings for water, school and transportation facilities. I have spent significant time on pro bono work for education and poverty-law oriented nonprofits, including Appleseed, Oakland Schools Foundation (now Oakland Education Fund) and the Funding the Next Generation Initiative.
