His main interest is companion animal epidemiology and practice based research. He is involved in the RVC primary practice electronic patient record project (VetCompass, collecting de-identified clinical data from small animal veterinary practices. Work on Equine VetCompass is now underway. He is a member of the VeNom Coding Group that has developed and is maintains standard clinical terminology for use in veterinary medicine and represents the VeNom Coding Group within the VetXML Consortium

ABOUT BRODBELT DAVID
Dave Brodbelt works primarily in companion animal epidemiology and is interested in clinical veterinary and practice based research. He is involved in a number of initiatives based on these interests: he co-leads the RVC companion animal surveillance system, VetCompass and he is chair of the VeNom Coding Group. Based in the Veterinary Epidemiology, Economics and Public Health (VEEPH) Group, Department of Pathobiology and Population Sciences at the RVC, he contributes to the teaching of both undergraduates and postgraduates at the RVC in epidemiology, evidence based veterinary medicine and statistics. He is a member of the Small Animal Expert Group
