About Brian Moore

Brian attended Georgia Institute of Technology and graduated with B.S./M.S. Degrees in Nuclear Engineering in 1991 and 1992, respectively. Awarded a Dept. of Energy Computational Science Graduate Fellowship, he completed the Computational Engineering and Sciences Interdisciplinary Graduate Program at North Carolina State University and graduated with a Ph.D. in Nuclear Engineering in 1996. His dissertation was on Higher Order Generalized Perturbation Theory for Boiling Water Reactor In-Core Nuclear Fuel Management.He joined the nuclear methods group of the Fuels Division of General Electric Nuclear Energy in 1996 located in Wilmington, NC. In the fuels divisions of GE, Hitachi, and Toshiba formed the Global Nuclear Fuel (GNF) joint venture. After 2001, he led and managed a series of very creative teams of 20-30 professionals with nuclear engineering, computational physics, and software engineering expertise. Their responsibilities are simulation tool development, consulting, and regulatory licensing for the detailed nuclear, multi-phase thermal-hydraulic transport and thermal-mechanical mechanisms for the reactor core, fuel, and plant during short-term scenarios and long-term operation as well as improving productivity for those applying these technology tools routinely. He has 19 peer reviewed publications and one patent.In 2013, Brian assumed leadership of the Core & Fuel Engineering department consisting of fuel product performance & design, methods & software, and nuclear analytical services and was promoted to Executive in 2016. In 2025, he successfully navigated a lateral move to Services Engineering, with more balance of plant, systems, digital controls, materials, and pressure vessel code requirements - extending his understanding an appreciation of engineering disciplines in these technical areas and the business dynamics & requirements as well.

   After 12 years leading fuel design, deterministic, and probabilistic safety analysis areas, in 2025, assumed leadership of Services Engineering department consisting of balance of plant systems, mechanical analysis, modifications, outage servicing tooling design, safety related control systems, materials, and testing for GE-Hitachi Nuclear Energy based in Wilmington, NC, a GE Vernova company. This role is focused on the existing Boiling Water Nuclear Reactor fleet.
