About Britt Bolen
I am a software architect focusing on cross cloud integration, distributed systems, object storage protocols, and object lifecycle management. My code powers highly fault tolerant storage systems and I lead teams developing leading edge cloud technology. At IBM (formerly Cleversafe) I worked on the Cloud Object Storage (COS) software, an object storage system of truly global scale and capacity. I focused on integrating COS with other solutions in the IBM cloud and in customer\'s data centers to enhance the functionality and value of their COS storage. I provided both architectural and software development leadership as well as code level design and implementation when needed.I’ve received 2 IBM Outstanding Technical Achievement Awards, first for Object Expiration in 2020 and Object Versioning in 2021. Before joining IBM I spent 16 years at NetApp developing their SAN storage portfolio. For three and a half years I was the architect and development team leader for SAN technology in NetApp\'s All-Flash array product FlashRay and the Mars OS.Prior to that I spent 12 years working on the SAN stack in DataONTAP starting from the first version of SAN support in Data ONTAP 6.3.Designed and implemented 2 enterprise quality SCSI target stacks. Designed and implemented SAN subsystem for Mars OS including new SAN admin layer and port of Distributed SCSI Target and Fibre Channel drivers.18 patents. http://tinyurl.com/bolen-patentsSpecialties: Object Storage, S3, SCSI, Fibre Channel, Storage.Distributed SCSI Target design and implementation.Kernel, and distributed systems design and implementation in C, C++ and Java.ClevOSMarsOSData ONTAPBuild infrastructureSystem simulation, unit testing, and developer testing.
Experience
Software Architect
Apr 2022 — Present · RTP, NC, US
Software architect and developer of HPE’s Alletra all flash, scale out, object storage…As a team lead on the I\'ve design features involving various kubernetes cluster managment components, internal container storage, HA IP networking and load balancing without the overhead of physical load balancers, build and release packaging, software update, object storage protocols, and anything else that needed to be done to build the product. When I\'m not doing my assigned features I\'m usually improving the build tools and writing scripts to improve developer productivity.
