About Brittany McDermott

In my role as Safeguarding Manager at U.S. Soccer, I support safety and wellbeing across all 27 national teams, integrating safeguarding principles in a high-performance environment.While I currently focus on safeguarding in sport, I draw heavily on earlier experiences in K-12 education, higher education and consulting. At the core of my work is building trauma-informed systems that support physical safety, mental health, and long-term wellbeing. As a public health professional, I bring a systems-thinking mindset, adaptability, and a collaborative approach to problem-solving, helping teams turn intention into practical, sustainable solutions. Outside of work, I’m an active member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc, the Georgia Campaign for Adolescent Power & Potential (GCAPP) Changemakers Network, and the Adolescent Health Alliance of Georgia. I\'ve also recently joined Soccer in the Streets\' Emerging Leaders Council, where I\'m supporting efforts to expand opportunities for Atlanta\'s youth. I welcome connections with and value learning from those with expertise in- athlete safety- safeguarding- mental health and wellbeing- violence prevention- youth engagement- survivor advocacy
