About Brittany R.
I am a Product Manager II at Microsoft working on Azure Compute Fleet and Virtual Machine Scale Sets (VMSS), where I focus on improving workload flexibility, scaling reliability, and infrastructure fungibility across Azure’s compute platform. My work includes defining product strategy, partnering closely with engineering on architecture and API design, and leading cross-functional execution to deliver features that support large-scale distributed workloads.I currently own key VMSS capabilities such as Autoscale, Instance Mix, and Spot Priority Mix, and I drive product strategy and roadmap development for Azure Compute Fleet, Azure’s new multi-SKU provisioning and orchestration model. I have also delivered end-to-end features such as Single Instance Attach/Detach and Instance Mix from initial concept through general availability.Previously, I managed Azure Dedicated Host, where I shipped features like Host Resize and Host Restart, expanded SKU offerings, and led lifecycle processes including SKU deprecation and retirement. Across roles, I work directly with customers and internal stakeholders to understand workload patterns, scaling needs, and migration requirements, translating insights into product improvements and long-term platform direction.I care about building products that solve real customer problems, collaborating effectively across engineering and partner teams, and contributing to a supportive and thoughtful team environment.

Product Manager 2
Dec 2022 — Present · Seattle, WA, US
I lead product development for Azure Compute Fleet and key feature areas within Azure Virtual Machine Scale Sets (VMSS), with a focus on scaling efficiency, SKU flexibility, and infrastructure fungibility across Azure’s compute platform.Responsibilities and Achievements:• Drive product strategy and vision for Azure Compute Fleet, Azure’s new multi-SKU orchestration platform designed to improve workload portability and infrastructure fungibility. Partner with engineering, UX, and GTM to define roadmap priorities, customer requirements, and long-term platform direction.• Own feature areas within Azure VMSS, including Autoscale, Instance Mix, and Spot Priority Mix, defining requirements, collaborating with engineering on design and architecture, and guiding features through development, preview, and general availability.• Delivered Single Instance Attach/Detach for VMSS from initial problem discovery through design, API reviews, engineering execution, and GA release, enabling customers to seamlessly attach independent VMs into scale sets.• Led the development of Instance Mix from conception to GA, allowing customers to use heterogeneous VM sizes within a single scale set to improve allocation success, cost optimization, and workload elasticity.• Work directly with internal Azure services and external customers to gather insights on scaling patterns, regional capacity constraints, allocation failures, and SKU preferences to inform Compute Fleet evolutions and fungibility initiatives.• Partner across engineering, UX, PMM, documentation, billing, SDK, and support teams to deliver platform-wide features with coordinated dependencies and consistent customer experience.• Contribute to Azure-wide strategy for compute fungibility, instance availability, orchestration, and platform modernization by representing Compute Fleet and VMSS in cross-team planning and architecture discussions.
